The crux in such settings usually stems from not having proper experience or guidance when embarking on such an endeavor. However, fret no more; this woodworking tutorial will take you by the hand and walk you through the whole process of putting together a DIY Lattice Privacy Screen.

To get started on building a privacy lattice fence, gather the required tools such as the circular cutting saws, measuring tapes, drill and drill bits, cedar blocks, etc. Below is step by step how build a lattice privacy screen.

Step 1: Prepare the lattice panels.

Using the portable circular saw cut all the lattice stock pieces to the same evenness and length to ensure they are quickly assembled. Mark out clearly the cross-strip locations by clamping each panel group together and marking all the strips at once.

Step 2: Erect the posts

Make sure the posts are sturdy and well anchored in the ground by digging big holes and securing them with quick-drying cement. The fence posts should be well space and should correspond with the width of the lattice panels. Each post should be buried about three feet into the ground. The portion that is buried in the ground should be wrapped with a waterproofing tape to ensure longevity. Allow at least 45 minutes for the concrete to set. Refer to the premium woodworking program for the most appropriate types of wood that make durable posts and ensure that you get the best out of your lattice fence project.

Step 3: Build the post sleeves

The sleeves provide an anchorage point for the lattice panels on the already erected fence posts. They are rectangular boxes that have an open front side where the lattices fit. Each box should commiserate with the size of the lattice panels as well as the fence post.

This program quickly show you how to build the various types of sleeves for the end posts, middle posts and corner posts while building a lattice fence. Ensure each sleeve is held together by glue and sturdy screws or nails. After they are complete, slide each sleeve over the respective posts and secure them firmly with heavy-duty screws. Ensure that all the sleeves are set flush with the post to maintain an even level all through.

Step 4: Create the lattice panel frames

The best kind of frames are created from 2 by 4 planks and are fashionable as well as durable. Make sure to drill drainage holes in the side panels to facilitate water drainage in the wet seasons. Ensure that all lattice panels are cut to size according to the lattice fence woodworking plans and slide them into the frames. Secure them firmly into place by sandwiching them between the frame and wooden planks fixed on the other side.

Step 5:Fix the lattice panel frames on the posts.

Carefully slide the finished frame with the lattice panel on to the already fixed and dried post. Place a few planks on the ground to ensure that the lattice are correctly placed and level. You can either fix the fence post as you go or can start off with the posts provided your lattice panels are cut to the correct sizes. Drill holes through the lattice frame into the fence post and secure them both with sturdy screws at a different level. Refer to the detailed lattice fence woodworking plans for clever tips and instructions.

Step 6: Secure the side stops and upper support blocks

After the lattice panels are firmly installed secure the side stops and upper support blocks by fitting cap rails between the posts. The cap rails add to the aesthetic appearance of your lattice fence and also serve to add stability to the fence.
